Each lesson, you’ll be learning about different concepts related to building a business. There are videos to watch and interactive exercises to do. Each lesson also includes a Check it Out section with carefully picked resources (like videos, links, and articles), and an Over to You section with challenges for you to complete. As you work through the course, you’ll receive badges and tools for completing different quizzes and activities (don’t worry – there are no grades involved!).
Activities and Challenges
All activities (including quizzes) can be completed right on the screen within the related lesson topic, usually by clicking to choose the right answer or reveal more information, like the example below:
The majority of the Over to You challenges include useful worksheets like the example below; you have the option to fill these in directly on the online worksheet within the challenge or you can select a PDF version of the worksheet to download, print, and fill in by hand. Access the PDF version by clicking on the relevant worksheet and selecting “Print the PDF” at the top right. When you fill in a worksheet directly on the screen and hit “Submit” (don’t forget this step), a copy will be emailed to you. Go to My Profile within My Journey to check what email address you signed up with – more on this below. You can also access your completed worksheets any time by going back to the relevant lesson topic or by clicking on My Forms within My Journey.
My Journey (shown below) is available from your main menu at any time. Within it, you’ll find My Profile, which includes your registration information; Badges, where you’ll find the badges and tools you’ve earned; My Forms, which contains all the available worksheets listed by lesson, and My Backpack. My Backpack is the place you can go to find all the resources listed under each lesson’s Check it Out section. The resources are linked to and listed by lesson, so you can access these any time you want without having to go back into the lesson itself.
Another useful tool you have is My Notebook (accessible from your main menu and shown below). This is your place to jot down ideas, brainstorm, answer general questions – it’s your online notebook. We’ve included links to My Notebook and suggestions as to when we think it’ll be useful for you to use My Notebook within lesson topics – look out for the light bulb icon, as this will link you right to My Notebook from within the lesson.
Don’t forget to also keep your eye on your email inbox, as you’ll receive invites to free, useful small business-focused webinars.
Remember, it’s easy to get behind when doing an online course, so try to keep up with the work, and make sure you set aside time to go through the material carefully and complete the activities and challenges.
